Chargers Annual Food Drive
Benefitting the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank
The staggering combination of high gas and food prices along with sustained high levels of unemployment, stagnant wages and the rising cost of living continue to affect tens of thousands of San Diego families who are turning to the Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank every day for help. This month alone, the Food Bank will feed more than 350,000 people, up from 200,000 people per month in 2008.
In fact, it is projected that the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank will distribute more than 20 million pounds of food this year. That’s the equivalent of 15.6 million meals by the end of 2011 – a doubling of the amount it distributed in 2008!
Individuals and families across the county are struggling to put food on the table. Adrienne, a military spouse whose husband is deployed, visits the Food Bank’s military family food distribution every month for assistance in feeding her four young children. Fortunately, Adrienne and families across the county can count on support from the Food Bank thanks to its generous supporters.
With the holiday season approaching, need for assistance will continue to rise. Please join with the Chargers and help the Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank by supporting the Chargers annual Holiday Food Drive – Sunday, November 6th when the team takes on the Green Bay Packers. The fan bringing the most nonperishable food items to the game will receive a football autographed by Philip Rivers!
