One of the more popular questions over my past few mailbags has been “Who are the Chargers captains?”
Well wait no more.
Without further ado, here are your 2013 San Diego Chargers captains…
Philip Rivers – An unquestioned leader of the Bolts for a number of years, Rivers’ passionate and fiery demeanor on the field endears him to the entire team. Rivers has been a captain since 2009.
Nick Hardwick –The only member of the offensive line to return to the same position as a year ago, many of his teammates up front refer to him as “the glue that holds us together.” The Chargers center will serve as captain for the fourth consecutive season.
Eric Weddle – A true leader, the safety was named the Chargers Most Valuable Player in 2012 and was also a first-team All-Pro by CBSSports.com and Pro Football Weekly & the Professional Football Writers of America. He was also a second-team Associated Press All-Pro. 2013 marks Weddle’s third straight season as a captain of the defense.
Donald Butler – Indicative of the new leadership role Butler has embraced entering his fourth NFL season, the former third-round pick in 2010 Has played in 28 career games, amassing 196 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, five sacks, two interceptions and three forced fumbles. Butler enters his first season as a Chargers captain.
Darrell Stuckey – Over the past two seasons, the special teams acehas totaled 24 special teams tackles over 26 games. Stuckey will serve as captain of the unit for a second straight season.
