BLOG: Cardinals and Chargers- Connecting the Dots

Posted Aug 21, 2013

Here are some notable connections between the San Diego Chargers and Arizona Cardinals

Typically there are noteworthy connections between teams when they line up each week, and Saturday’s match between the San Diego Chargers and Arizona Cardinals is no exception.

Here are some to keep in mind when the Chargers face the Cardinals this week.

Brandon Taylor’s brother Curtis is a safety for the Cardinals.  The two played one season together at LSU in 2008 and Curtis was drafted in the seventh round by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2009 draft.  Since Brandon was drafted in the third round last year, he said he’ll always get to hold that over his older brothers head.

Offensive coordinator Ken Whisenhunt was the Cardinals head coach from 2007-12 and left with the most wins in franchise history.  Others on the Bolts coaching staff that used to be with Arizona include special teams coordinator Kevin Spencer, quarterbacks coach Frank Reich, secondary coach Ron Milus and defensive quality control coach Chad Grimm.

Former San Diego State quarterback Ryan Lindley is currently third on Arizona’s depth Chart.  Lindley grew up in Alpine, CA and played for the Aztecs from 2008-11.  One player on the receiving end of many of his catches?  Vincent Brown.

Cornerback Antoine Cason is in his first season in the desert after playing in San Diego from 2008-12.

Fozzy Whittaker spent the end of 2012 on the Cardinals practice squad.  The former Texas star was released in mid-March and immediately claimed by the Bolts.

Rich Ohrnberger played in 13 games and started four last season in Arizona.
