Blackout lifted for Chargers-Giants game

Posted Dec 6, 2013

Fox 5 and the San Diego County Toyota Dealers guaranteed the purchase of enough tickets to prevent a blackout.

Fox 5 and the San Diego County Toyota Dealers (“We’ve got what it takes, San Diego.”) have guaranteed the purchase of enough tickets to lift the local television blackout for Sunday’s game between the San Diego Chargers and New York Giants at Qualcomm Stadium.  The game kicks off at 1:25 p.m. PT and will be televised by Fox on Fox 5 in San Diego.  Kenny Albert and Daryl Johnston will call the action while Tony Siragusa reports from the field.

Approximately 2,400 general tickets as well as plenty of Club seats – some of the best seats in the stadium – are still available.  Tickets may be purchased by logging onto www.CHARGERS.com, calling Ticketmaster at 1-800-745-3000 or visiting the Chargers Ticket Office located at Gate C at Qualcomm Stadium.  The Chargers’ ticket office is open weekdays from 8-5 p.m., Saturday from 10-4 p.m. and Sunday starting at 9 a.m.

The San Diego County Toyota Dealers will work with local military organizations in San Diego to distribute a portion of the tickets to individuals and families who otherwise would not have the opportunity to attend the game.

Fans can also listen to the radio broadcast on Chargers.com, on Rock 105.3 and XTRA Sports 1360 in San Diego as well as KLAC 570 AM in Los Angeles and Orange County. Josh Lewin and Hank Bauer calling the game and Mike Costa reporting from the field. All Chargers games are also broadcast in Spanish on XHFG 107.3 FM in San Diego and KWKW 1330 AM in Los Angeles with Jorge Villanueva calling the play-by-play and Dante Lazcano offering game analysis.

The national radio broadcast will be done by Compass Media Networks.  Matt Smith and Tony Hill will call the action from the booth.

HOT TICKET

The Chargers and San Diego Police Department are warning fans to be mindful of the existence of fraudulent tickets. The Chargers stress that the only way to assure ticket authenticity is to purchase tickets directly through the team, Chargers.com, Ticketmaster or NFL Ticket Exchange at www.Chargers.com/TicketExchange. Tickets obtained from other sources run the risk of being counterfeit. The SDPD will have additional officers, both uniformed and undercover, around Qualcomm Stadium monitoring fans ticket transactions. Several hundred fans were turned away at the gates prior to the Chargers-Cowboys when they tried to enter with counterfeit tickets.

TRANSPORTATION & TAILGATING

The team expects potentially the largest crowd of the season, so fans are warned to expect additional travel delays on Sunday morning. For fans driving to the game, the parking lot will open at 9:25 p.m. and could fill and close as early as 11:30. The parking lot routinely fills early so fans are encouraged to carpool or use public transportation to get to the stadium. Fans taking the Trolley should do their best to board at least two hours before game time to avoid delays.

Fans can follow @chargersgameday on Twitter for traffic, trolley and parking lot updates from the stadium.

Fans who enjoy tailgating are reminded that GLASS BOTTLES ARE NOT ALLOWED in the parking lot. Throwing of objects, selling of items, riding on scooters/skateboards/rollerblades and amplified music and excessive noise which may cause a disturbance is prohibited by the City of San Diego.

ONLY CLEAR PLASTIC BAGS ALLOWED

Fans also are reminded that NFL policy limits the size and type of bags that may be brought into stadiums. Permissible bags are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12” x 6” x 12.” One-gallon clear plastic freezer bags (Ziploc bag or similar) are permissible. Small clutch bags, approximately the size of a hand, with or without a handle or strap can be taken into the stadium with one of the clear plastic bags. Prohibited items include, but are not limited to: purses larger than a clutch bag, coolers, briefcases, backpacks, fanny packs, cinch bags, non-approved seat cushions (large traditional seat cushions that have pockets, zippers, compartments, or covers), luggage of any kind, computer bags and camera bags or any bag larger than the permissible size.

Now, you can stay in touch with the team anytime, anywhere, on your mobile device with the official app of the San Diego Chargers.
