Chargers release Hughes

Posted Sep 7, 2010

SAN DIEGO – The Chargers released cornerback Brandon Hughes on Tuesday to make room for quarterback J.T. O’Sullivan on the 53-man roster. O’Sullivan was signed on Monday.

The team also released center-guard Jeff Hansen and quarterback Jonathan Crompton from the practice squad. To replace them, the Chargers re-signed tackle Ryan Otterson and tight end Kory Sperry. Otterson originally was placed on the final 53-man roster on Saturday, but was waived a day later to make room for tackle Adam Terry.

Sperry, a former undrafted free agent, spent time in training camp with San Diego in ’09 and played in eight games for the Miami Dolphins last season. He went to training camp with Denver in 2010.
