D.J Fluker Blog: “It’s On Us to Execute Better Now”

Posted Jan 1, 2014

This week's player blog comes courtesy of D.J. Fluker.

Sunday was a very exciting day.  The two teams we needed to lose lost and we took control of the opportunity.  We have a chance to do something great now by finishing out strong.  It’s one game at a time and one week at a time now.  Other than that, I’m just trying to enjoy the whole process.

A lot of people ask what it was like when they missed that field goal. To be honest with you, I had my eyes closed.  I couldn’t watch it.  But then I opened them and I saw one of the security guards down there shouting and dancing like crazy so I knew he missed it.  He was excited and I was excited.  It was great for us to give us another opportunity.  I knew we’d win.  It’s something I’ll never forget.

A lot of the players like Nick and Jeromey who have been in the playoffs before have been telling us what to expect. They’re saying how it is memorable and how the playoffs are a beautiful thing. I’m excited for the opportunity to be here.

Now we have to take care of business in Cincinnati.  They’re the same team we played last time, and I felt we could have executed better last time.  Now we have a second chance to face them and I am looking forward to it.  We kind of know what to expect a bit more from them, so it should be a good game.  It’s on us to execute better now.

Thanks for sticking with us and for being by our side all season. Go Bolts and Happy New Year!

D.J.
