The San Diego Chargers placed three players on Reserve-Injured Tuesday to reach the NFL’s mandatory active roster limit of 75 players:
DePalma, a 5-foot-11, 192-pound receiver out of West Chester (PA), led all wide receivers in receptions through the first three preseason games with seven catches for 70 yards. His seven receptions trail only tight end
Gronkowski, a 6-foot-2, 245-pound fullback appeared in only one preseason game for the Chargers. Over three years in the NFL, he’s split time with the Dallas Cowboys, Indianapolis Colts and Denver Broncos before signing with the San Diego Chargers this past offseason.
Willie, a 6-foot-2, 220-pound receiver who was a member of the Bolts practice squad in 2012, is tied for the team lead with two touchdown receptions this preseason. Both scores came against the Chicago Bears in Week 1. Overall, Willie had six catches for 42 yards through three games.
By being placed on the reserve-injured list, DePalma, Gronkowski and Willie will miss the 2013 season.
