Mailbag: Who Deserves to Make the Pro Bowl?

Posted Dec 4, 2013

Check out this week's edition of Ricky Henne's Fan Mailbag.

Q: Last year the Chargers didn’t have any Pro Bowlers.  That can’t happen again! There are a lot who deserve to make it this year.  Who is on your list? – Jay Smith Jr.

A: I think there are a number of players who are worthy of making it.  Just off the top of my head, and I know I am going to be leaving some people out so don’t hold that against me, but I feel like Philip Rivers, Nick Hardwick, Keenan Allen, Danny Woodhead, Antonio Gates and Nick Novak are certainly worthy of making the squad.  I’m curious to see how this year’s new wrinkle of the top players overall, not just by conference, heading to Hawaii will shake things up.  Be sure to keep voting for your favorite Chargers like I have been right here to make the Pro Bowl.

Q: Don't know much about the Giants but I watched them Sunday night beat the Redskins. They looked very good. I know they started the season 0-6 or something but now are 5-7 like we are. Are we facing them at the wrong time? How have they turned the season around?? – Barry Rollins

A: Every team in the NFL is dangerous, capable of winning every week.  The Giants have won five of their last six and have a number of dangerous weapons.  They only come to town once every eight years, and of course there is a lot of history between Philip Rivers and Eli Manning as the trade for one another on draft day will forever link them.  This is a game I personally wouldn’t want to miss as I believe it will be an electric atmosphere at the Q.  Tickets still remain, and if you plan on showing up be sure to let me know! For more on the Giants, check out what Executive President of Football Operations John Spanos had to say about them in this week’s Bolts Breakdown below:

Q: Hey Ricky. I just finished your article on the Seau Shop with a Jock event. I think it's great you all are keeping his legacy alive and giving back to the community. I think it's great you all are helping spread the holiday cheer. Happy holidays and keep up the good work. – Kelia Oleyanaa

A: When anyone asks me about the Chargers, the first thing I say is what a great group of human beings they are.  Seeing them give back to the community repeatedly, whether it is through programs like Shop with a Jock, the Blood Drive, Play 60 events and so on, it’s clear they aren’t just showing up but are actively participating because they truly want to be there.  You can expect to see them continue being active in the community during the holiday season with a number of other events taking place on their day off.   If you want to help get in on the action, you can participate by bringing a toy this Sunday to Qualcomm Stadium for the Chargers annual “Toys for Tots” toy drive.  Click here for more information.

Now, you can stay in touch with the team anytime, anywhere, on your mobile device with the official app of the San Diego Chargers.
