Kelvin Benjamin has the rare ability to make an incredibly difficult reception seem routine.  He also has a penchant for coming up with clutch catches in crunch time.  All you have to do is look no further than the BCS Championship Game in January when his game-winning touchdown with 13 seconds remaining earned Florida State the National Championship.

Over two years with the Seminoles, the wide receiver registered 84 catches for 1,506 yards and 19 touchdowns.  While he had a solid freshman year in which he didn’t start, so it was his sensational sophomore campaign that really turned heads. In 2013, he posted 54 catches for 1,011 yards, averaging 18.7 yards per reception.  Benjamin also tied the FSU school record with a conference leading 15 touchdowns, becoming a Second-Team All-ACC pick in the process.  He was the primary target of Jameis Winston, and was a major factor leading to the quarterback winning the Heisman Trophy.

Part of what makes Benjamin so lethal is his extraordinary size, measuring 6-5, 240-pounds. As a result, he has an incredible wingspan and catch radius, with many scouts likening him to Plaxico Burress and the Chargers own Malcom Floyd.    Benjamin is simply a mismatch for defenders using his frame to shield them away to come up with contested catches.  He has good jets for a man his size with great separation speed.

Benjamin has a tendency to drop some easy passes, and he needs to become a better blocker.  However, those are two areas that should be easily fixable in the NFL, so you can expect to see the wide receiver continue to make his clutch catches on Sundays.

Combine Metrics
40-yard Dash: 4.61
Bench Press: 13 reps
Vertical Jump:  32.5 inches
