Kyle Long certainly has the pedigree to be a productive player in the NFL.

His father Howie is a Hall of Fame defensive end while his brother Chris is a Pro-Bowl defensive end for the St. Louis Rams who was the second overall selection back in 2008.

But don’t think Long is getting by on his name alone.  Kyle’s productivity and versatility make him an intriguing offensive line prospect heading into April’s draft.

Long played predominantly at guard for the Ducks, but he does have the skillset to also kick outside to man one of the tackle positions.  Both his father and brother say he is the most athletic member of the family, which he uses to his advantage in the trenches. He has quick reflexes and is fast on his feet in pass protection, where he uses his brute strength to jolt opposing defenders. Very fast and mobile, he is excellent in the run game at pulling and creating holes in space. At 6-foot-6, 313-pounds, he also has the ideal build for an offensive lineman.

Right now, the biggest knock on Long is his inexperience.  He’s only played on the offensive line since 2011, so he is still learning the game.  However, some look at that as a positive as he is only scratching the surface of his true potential.  As a result, Long has a strong chance of being selected either late in the first round or early in the second day of the draft.

Combine Metrics
