Teams are constantly looking for wide receivers that present a mismatch for the opponent, and Mike Evans supplies that in droves.

The 6-5, 231-pounder is a tall, physical athlete who excels at tracking and high-pointing the ball.  With a knack for breaking off a route to get open, a propensity for out jumping his opponent on a 50/50 ball and the ability to turn a short gain into a chunk play, he is the type of player Chargers Defensive Coordinator John Pagano refers to as a “game-wrecker.”  Evans possesses an incredible catch radius and constantly outmuscles defensive backs when fighting for the football.  Extremely competitive, Evans’ motor never ends as he is often seen blocking down field on handoffs or passes to his teammates.

A first-team All American last year as a sophomore, the 20-year old caught 69 passes for a school-record 1,394 yards and 12 touchdowns in 2013.  As important as any other stat is the fact that Evans elevated his game against premiere competition.  He had an 11-catch, 287 yard and four touchdown performance against Auburn, and against Alabama caught seven balls for 279 yards and a touchdown. Overall, Evans had five 100-yard games while his 12 touchdowns led the SEC.

Because he is so tall it takes Evans some time to get up to top speed.  Still, he is a deep vertical threat because of his ability to come down with the ball no matter how tight the coverage is.  With his unique skillset and ideal physique, Evans figures to be an impact player as a rookie in 2014.

Combine Metrics
40-yard Dash: 4.53
Bench Press: 12 reps
Vertical Jump: 37.0 inches
