Rookie Report: Edwin Baker

Posted Jul 20, 2012

Training Camp is just around the corner as the San Diego Chargers prepare for the start of the 2012 season. Before things kick off with rookies reporting Sunday night, here’s your chance to get to know a little bit about each of the Chargers draft choices. We finish with the team’s second seventh-round pick, running back Edwin Baker.

The Chargers closed out the 2012 NFL Draft with the selection of running back Edwin “Rock” Baker from Michigan State.

A 2,293-yard rusher with 19 career touchdowns in East Lansing, Baker concluded his career as the 12th all-time leading rusher in Michigan State history, despite playing just three seasons for the Spartans. His 5.7-yards per carry career average ranked seventh best in school history. As a true sophomore in 2010, Baker earned first-team All-Big Ten accolades.
