Training Camp Concludes and Preseason Week 2

Posted Aug 18, 2013

Here is your roundup of all the storylines since the preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

There were plenty of storylines in the San Diego Chargers 33-28 loss to the Chicago Bears on Thursday.  To help digest them all, here is a roundup of the articles, videos and photos from the past three days.

One major factor leading to the loss had to deal with a variety of mistakes and turnovers the team committed.  According to head coach Mike McCoy, the Chargers need to clean up those areas over the next two games heading into the season opener September 9th against the Houston Texans. Then, watch below to hear McCoy's postgame thoughts.

On the bright side, there were still a number of positives despite the result.  Ryan Mathews continued his strong start to the preseason, and you can read about it right here. The tight ends also made an impact once again, and the trio of Antonio Gates, John Phillips and Ladarius Green have the potential to be a force for the Bolts. Also be sure to check out D.J. Fluker having a strong game, Charlie Whitehurst sparking the offense and the return of a popular wide receiver, Vincent Brown.

After checking out this extensive photo gallery of official team photos, head inside the locker room to hear what Philip Rivers, Ryan Mathews and Donald Butler had to say immediately following the game.

On Friday morning, we listed our popular five lessons learned from the game.  Read them all right here, and be sure to let us know if you have any lessons of your own. Then, see what McCoy, Mathews and Mike Willie had to say when meeting the media.

The team made a transaction following the game as well, bringing back wide receiver Seyi Ajirotutu for his third stint with the Bolts.  Read about his return right here.

A scary moment occured at practice on Saturday when Eddie Royal was sent to the hospital after landing hard on his back.  He was diagnosed with a bruised lung and concussion.  Another player suffering an injury was cornerback Steve Williams.  The fifth-round draft choice tore his pectoral muscle against the Bears.

Also at practice, I had a chance to chat with radio play-by-play announcer Josh Lewin.  Watch our interview below.

Finally, we'll open our fan mailbag on Monday.  Fill out the form below to submit your question.

Now, you can stay in touch with the team anytime, anywhere, on your mobile device with the official app of the San Diego Chargers.
