Chargers fans to help fight hunger on Sunday

Posted Nov 4, 2011

Fans attending Sunday’s game between the Chargers and Green Bay Packers are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items and join the Chargers in helping San Diegans in need.

The parking lot will open at 9 a.m. and stadium entrance gates open at 11:30 am. Red bins will be positioned at all stadium entrances.

The Jacobs & Cushman Food Bank relies on donations to provide food to hungry San Diegans during the holidays. The following list includes the most needed food items:

  • Canned items (tuna, soups, vegetables and fruits)
  • Dried goods (such as dried beans, pasta, rice, and other grains)
  • Peanut butter
  • Infant formula

The fan who brings in the most food will receive a Philip Rivers autographed football.
For more information, call Chris Carter of the San Diego Food Bank at 619-857-2314.
