Bio

The Chargers’ sixth-round pick in the 2013 NFL Draft, Williams gained tremendous experience as a rookie, playing 15 games, including playoffs, while starting six during the regular season at outside linebacker. He ended the year with 11 tackles to go along with a sack and forced fumble. The sack and forced fumble is one he’ll never forget as it came against future Hall of Famer Peyton Manning. And along the way, Williams benefitted greatly by playing alongside veterans like Jarret Johnson and seven-time Pro Bowler Dwight Freeney.

A three-time All-Sun Belt Conference pick at Florida International, Williams finished his career second in school history in sacks (18), yards lost (155), tackles for loss (45.5) and tackle for loss yards (224). The only Panthers player to record more was former Chargers outside linebacker Antwan Barnes.

A strong swimmer and a lifeguard as a youth, Williams decided he wanted to play water polo as a senior at Miami’s Norland High School. The school’s water polo program had been dormant for some time before Williams and some of his football teammates joined the team. They ended up turning the program around and helped end a winless drought that had extended for 10 seasons prior to their arrival.

2013: NFL debut Sept. 15 at Philadelphia...first-career start on ESPN’s Monday Night Football Oct. 14 vs. Indianapolis...first-career sack and forced fumble vs. Denver’s Peyton Manning Nov. 10 at Qualcomm Stadium.
